Shiatsu
Shiatsu is a traditional hands-on healing therapy. It aims to promote
physical, mental and emotional well-being by releasing the free flow of
energy in the body along energy pathways called meridians. It creates a
quiet time and space for the receiver in which transformation and healing
can occur.
Shiatsu techniques include gentle holding, the application of finger and
palm pressure on the meridians, as well as more dynamic rotations and
stretches when appropriate. It is a deeply relaxing experience and regular
Shiatsu sessions help to prevent the build up of stress in our daily
lives. Shiatsu can be effective for a wide range of conditions – from
specific injuries to more general symptoms of poor health. It is based on
the same principles as acupuncture, but without the needles!
Treatments last around an hour and usually take place fully clothed on a
futon at floor level, or if that is not comfortable, on a chair or couch.
